Foundation Programmes

Foundation runs programmes based on three categories - Heath & Wellbeing, Personal Development and Community.

Health & Wellbeing

Health & Wellbeing focuses on enhancing and sustaining the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of employees and their families and incorporates programmes relating to stress, healthy eating, nutrition, fitness, relationships, communication and interaction skills and family days. Programmes address the ‘wellness’ of employees and their families, with ‘wellness’ management stretching beyond traditional ‘people’ management.

Health & Wellbeing programmes include health assessments; team based walking club; quit smoking classes; employee education seminars on getting in shape and first aid courses.

Recently, Lend Lease’s Nashville office, with its 150 employees, hosted their inaugural ‘Health Week’. This initiative was developed out of a need to provide employees with practical tools in managing work/life/balance, helping them to lead a healthier lifestyle. Health Week featured an action-packed week of activities, challenges and seminars, drawing awareness to the benefits of healthier living. Health Week will now become an annual event, and will be replicated by other Lend Lease offices around the world.

Foundation Fact: Lend Lease was one of the first companies in Australia to introduce its own ‘Foundation’ dedicated exclusively to the wellbeing of employees.

Personal Development

Personal Development programmes support personal and inter-personal development, inspiring employees to become more self aware, enabling them to reach their potential and effectively engage with others. Programmes focus on developing employees beyond the basic skill sets required to fulfil a job role.

Personal Development programmes include diversity training; planning for retirement; programmes dealing with personal change; language training; and self-defence classes.

Employees are required to deal with change in the workplace and in their personal lives. The ‘Leading Change’ programme covers all aspects of change in life, not just work, and was developed to provide people with an understanding of change on a personal level, helping them to proactively deal with change rather than being swamped by it.

Leading Change has been a great success, better equipping employees to accept change and respond positively, reducing negative impacts, and loss of productivity and staff. Delegates report feeling privileged to take two days of their work time to focus on their personal development. It makes them feel valued and they see a commitment from Lend Lease in ensuring its people are healthy, happy and self-aware.

Community

Community programmes encourage engagement with the communities in which we interact, recognising our accountability for what we take, create and leave behind. Programmes aim to establish meaningful community partnerships, contributing to these organisations based on their needs, and in line with Lend Lease’s needs and skill sets.

Community programmes include Community Day; community grants for individuals who volunteer for a charity; mentoring/reading partnerships with local community groups; and community activities such as ‘plant a tree’ day.
Foundation’s most significant community programme is ‘Community Day’ - a global initiative, and our longest running Foundation programme. Established in 1996, Community Day provides Lend Lease people with the opportunity to give back to the communities in which we live and work, encouraging employees to contribute their time, energy, enthusiasm and skills to community projects and causes.

Since 1996, our people have volunteered around 400,000 hours to community initiatives. Whether it’s building cubby houses, renovating shelters, cleaning up beaches and national parks or working in animal shelters, Lend Lease people experience first hand the benefits of ‘giving back’, in the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie.

Community Day has helped form strong relationships with many groups across the community, many of whom now specifically plan tasks with our help in mind. Every year, around 4,000 Lend Lease employees from 18 countries give their time to more than 200 Community Day projects.
